Nearby Surroundings
Divoký Bistro - French cuisine 20 minutes through the forest from the cottage
The famous bistro, also recognized on Lukáš Hejlík's gastronomy map, is reachable from the cottage by a short walk of 1.3 km through meadows and forest and is definitely worth a visit. We recommend reserving a table, especially if you're not just going for a beer :-) The trail is easy; for navigation, open the map or point your phone's camera at the QR code.

Zadov - biking, skiing, Cross-country skiing
Zadov - the gateway to the heart of Šumava, is only 7 km from the U Pastvišť cottage and offers truly endless number of options for exploring different corners of the national park. From here, you can head towards well-known locations such as Horská Kvilda, Kvilda, Filipova Hut, Zhůří, Modrava, or anywhere you like. Zadov offers a downhill skiing area, including a children's lift. However, the mantra of Šumava is cross-country skiing - the Šumava trail is beautiful, and we recommend keeping an eye on information about cross-country skiing trails at www.mapy.cz or www.bilastopa.cz. For cycling enthusiasts, Zadov is a great starting point for various cycling trips. Don't hesitate to contact us with any questions; we will be happy to help!
Mushrooms, blueberries, cranberries
If you are passionate mushroom and forest berry picker, you will truly enjoy your time with us. The U Pastvišť cottage is located on the edge of a forest that offers countless opportunities for mushroom picking, gathering wild raspberries or strawberries, and not to mention blueberries or cranberries. We recommend taking a basket for mushrooms on all your trips - this way, you can avoid the disappointment of having to leave those beautiful mushrooms behind :-)

Great Tips for Kids
Stachy village with kids´playground
2 kilometers down the hill
Stachy is renowned for its central square mushroom reserve, which attracts visitors during the main mushroom picking season. It is also an ideal location for a hiking trip from the cottage, where the final reward for little hikers is a large playground filled with swings, slides, and a really big sandbox. Across from the playground, you will find the COOP store, which is the largest accessible grocery option in the area. We also recommend the Pepe's snack bar and the Armenian pastry shop, where you can find the best marzipan and honey cakes for miles around. Everything in one place, at Stachy Square.
Javorník - lookout tower, geocaching and restaurant with breathtaking views and a playground
5 kilometers uphill on foot through meadows and forests, the destination is worth it!
Another hiking option we recommend is Javorník. A place where you will find a truly large number of rewarding highlights! At the destination, we recommend the Krásná vyhlídka restaurant, which truly lives up to its name! You will also find a small children's playground here. Another attraction is the barefoot trail for barefoot enthusiasts, and for those who still have enough energy, we recommend climbing the Javorník lookout tower. Along the way, you have the opportunity to find easy geocaching stash for kids. What we can guarantee are beautiful views and lot of fun.
Zadov - pastry shop and rope park
7 kilometers uphill on foot - you can return by bus to Stachy or vice versa
From the cottage, you can set off on a full-day trip to the famous Zadov area. The trip will take you to lesser-known and visually beautiful locations in Šumava, through meadows and forests full of mushrooms. You will walk over Popelná hora, Klostrmanova skála, and at the end, if you have enough strength, you can take advantage of the Zadov educational trail. At the destination, you can enjoy a well-deserved treat at the local pastry shop or visit the rope park - just make sure to check in advance that it is open. A great alternative, especially for families with small children, is to use bus transportation and take the bus from Stachy to Zadov and then walk the route in reverse - all downhill. Zadov is a great starting point to the heart of Šumava; you can leave your car here (or arrive by bus) and set off from here towards Horská Kvilda, Kvilda, Nové Hutě, both in summer and winter for cross-country skiing
Vimperk - town full of attraction
11 kilometers by car
12.6 km on foot along the red trail, return by bus
Vimperk is the nearest large town that offers great amenities. You will find shops (Lidl, Tesco, Penny, etc.), pharmacies, a hospital (I hope it won't be necessary), sports equipment stores, bike and ski rentals - anything you need. We also recommend visiting the local castle, the square with a microbrewery, and in the summer months, the local swimming area - ideal for the hardy, as the water is truly refreshing
Kašperské Hory - castle, pastry shop, brewery
13 kilometers by car
12,2 kilometers on foot, return by bus to Stachy
Kašperské Hory is a beautiful place. It is known for its iconic castle (the setting of the fairy tale Anděl Páně), which is definitely worth a visit, including guided tours, and ATTENTION! There is an option for children to visit a children's circuit. You can reach the castle from the main square - follow the yellow trail and go uphill. In the castle courtyard, you will find light refreshments, which will come in handy. Kašperské Hory has a lovely square where you must not miss the pastry shop or the local brewery. The Nebespán restaurant is also renowned. In winter, you can ski here on the slope, which is one of the longest in the nearby area, and if possible, skiing is available throughout the entire season
Sušice - great choice for (not just) rainy days
26 Kilometers by car
Sušice is a beautiful town that is definitely worth a visit. It has a lovely spacious square where markets are regularly held. Also worth mentioning is Santos Island, where you will find a wonderful children's playground, next to which lies an outdoor swimming area - locals, however, prefer to swim in the weir on the Otava River :-). Sušice is a great choice for rainy weather - here you will find an indoor water park and a museum on the square, where adults can learn a lot about the history of this region, and children can enjoy the children's floor full of retro toys and a museum game (last time we were looking for dinosaurs and completing tasks).
